Russ and Rustin went on their first backpacking adventure together on March 20th.
They spent 3 days hiking in a beautiful Arvapia Canyon where they had to cross over this river more than a hundred times.
They wore special pants and shoes that kept them fairly warm but dried quickly so they could cross through the water but not freeze in wet boots and clothes. Their shoes were more like sandals than sneakers and worked well other than the gravel that found its way in there.
They just ignored it after a while.
They said it was incredibly beautiful and from what I've seen, I believe them.
Love those saguaro cacti!
King of the mountain
They hiked up to these huge pools of water and swam in the icy coldness. This is Brother Schmidt and Rustin (on right) and they were the first two in. They said it was so cold your legs cramped up and you felt like your heart might stop!
Looks like Rustin found some extra teeth or something.
